About

Our Mission

We are inspired by the words of many of America’s Founders, including those of Thomas Jefferson, whose words are displayed proudly in our masthead: “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.

Defining Patriotism

RULES & PROTOCOL

Notes about protocol and decorum on this website:

1. The Daily Patriot rejects the concept of careerism in politics. But we do believe in politeness and a civil society. For example, while former President Bill Clinton will be respectfully referred to here as Mr. Clinton, we will not generally refer to him as President Clinton. He served his terms, and is now a private citizen, no more, no less. Newt Gingrich, similarly, will not be referred to as Mr. Speaker, but as Mr. Gingrich. The Daily Patriot wishes to promote an atmosphere of civility – help us by writing similarly in your comments and feedback.

2. It is obvious that anonymity is NOT a good thing for our country or our culture. Anonymity is a breeding ground for vulgarity, for coarseness, for cowardice, and lastly, for ignorance. Be strong in your beliefs, learn, study, and speak your mind, or write, through passionately, but thoughtfully, chosen words. If you must hide anonymously behind your words, perhaps those words have no merit. No anonymous comments will be accepted or displayed on The Daily Patriot.

3. While we abhor the ill-effects of anonymity on the internet, we passionately respect privacy. And no, these concepts are not in conflict with one another. In our Constitution, every American is guaranteed only life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – but we believe that privacy is an additional courtesy that everyone deserves, especially at home. The privacy of home and family should be sacred in our society, enjoyed by even our public figures. No personally identifiable information will be displayed on The Daily Patriot, other than an author’s name. Email addresses will not be shared or published in any manner.

4. Civility. Please remember that word and its meaning when writing. Persuade, don’t shout. A rapier-like wit and a command of the facts are much more effective as a means of persuasion than profanity or vulgarity. So behave. Think. Learn. Read. Write. Enjoy. Or go post your comments on The Huffington Post instead…

Comments on articles found on The Daily Patriot: we welcome your thoughts and contributions, especially if you follow the aforementioned three guidelines. Comments will be moderated and edited where appropriate.
